PHARE Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Bulgaria - Romania
"Creation of a long-term partnership for cross-border development"

Goals:

To create a model for cross-border cooperation between our agency and the Regional Development Agency - Southwest Oltenia in Romania to address regional development needs. We aimed to increase cross-border contacts and trade, and thus improve the economic situations of both regions.

Establishment of Business Incubators in Areas of Industrial Decline
Funded by:

European Community PHARE Programme 2000

Timeframe: October 2003 - December 2005
Goals:

Establishment of a business incubator to support Montana businesses to overcome difficulties in the initial stages of their development.

Role of ARD & BC:

Provide support to the Montana Municipality administration to obtain funding, establish, and coordinate businesses interested in leasing space in the Incubator.

Project for Vocational Education - "MONTE AVOIR - Repkini & Co."

Timeframe: January 2003 - August 2003
Goals:

To decrease the level of unemployment in the Montana Region and adapt vocational education to the requirements of the labor market through providing training courses for qualification and re-qualification of employed and unemployed people.

Role of ARD & BC:

Partner with "MONTE AVOIR - Repkini & Co." Designed and wrote successful project proposal; manages correspondence with funding institutions; writes reports; conducts motivational training.

Results: Trained over 215 unemployed and employed people.
Project"Civil Forum for for Regional Development"- ARD & BC Vidin

Timeframe:

January 2003 - October 2003

Goals:

Sustainable development of the civil sector in Northwest Bulgaria by establishing relationships between local and regional authorities for access to the process of decision making.

Role of ARD & BC:

Partner - coordinate and implement all project activities in the Montana region.

Results:

Creation of a conception between the local authorities and NGOs for future partnership.

Capacity Building for the Accelerated Growth of the Small and Medium-Size Enterprise (SME) Sector in Bulgaria
Funded by: European Community PHARE Programme
Timeframe: January 2001 - September 2002
Goals: Capacity building for the Regional Development Agencies in their interaction with SMEs to improve the environment for the establishment and growth of SMEs.
Results: The ARD & BC has consulted and trained over 160 SMEs and continues to support SMEs by using skills and abilities learned and strengthened through training provided by the project.
